Hawkesbury Upton Hall Committee

Chairman’s Report for the year 2006

I would like to thank the committee for their dedication and hard work over the past year. This year has been quite a busy year for us with quite a few bars and own fundraisers like Friutbats & Supper evening.

Also this year sees us completing our new electronic door entry system, thanks to Chris Edwards for his technical help on this and his efforts in installing the system. Out of all the fobs issued we had only one that was faulty and no problems with the new system so far.

Earlier in the year we identified some useful storage space that would benefit the Drama group. They are progressing this and it will eventually mean they will be able to store more of their equipment, & props etc. here in the Hall and maybe even release some storage back to us.

We continue to seek grants where we can and did manage to raise enough funding, almost, for the toilet refurbishment. Thanks to Mick for his form filling, grant searching and subsidising the final bill, until we get our last grant payment from South Glos. Council.

Looking forward to next year I see us continuing the grant searching and applications, as there are still many sources out there dying to help us. Our next development phase needs us to complete the DDA plan we already have, by completing the installation of the ramp and canopy. There is still much more to do, with more refurbishment work as the building is looking a little tired, particularly the entrance foyer.

In the treasurer’s report later we will hear just how well we did this year compared to past years, even though it was only in September that we decided to increase the Hall hire fees, first time for many years.

Thanks again to everyone.

Angelo Sauro
Chairman
